Beth McMahon grew up in a small town West of Syracuse called Jordan, NY. After completing her degree and graduating from CCBI in 1988, she moved to Binghamton, NY, and began her career as a freelance court reporter. Through the years, she and her husband have enjoyed working together as well as separately, owning and operating different businesses along the way including a court reporting agency and an electrical contracting company. They still operate the electrical contracting company today.

In 1996, McMahon and her family moved to Syracuse, NY. Then, In 2004, her family came to the Lord together during a VBS at Lakeshore Baptist Church. Since then, they have all been actively involved in many areas including youth ministries which remains the center of Beth’s passion. In fact, in 2013, Beth became the outreach director of their church. Then, in 2016, her husband became the Senior Pastor allowing her the privilege of serving alongside.

Never playing sports herself – Beth has always been a fan. She started as a cheerleader throughout her high school career and simply never stopped. As the church outreach director, she felt something different was needed in the area that would reach the community in a unique way. So, she started a basketball camp called Heavenly Hoops. She was excited to see this outreach grow and thrive for 4 years.

It was at a Syracuse area ministry luncheon that Beth was introduced to FCA through Amanda Tewksbury. Volunteering her time to help with several aspects of the ministry, she fell in love with the vision of FCA and was brought on as permanent staff, in 2018.

Since then, Beth has enjoyed working closely with several staff members at FCA and enjoys her role working on administrative duties. She looks forward to seeing the staff’s time freed up to focus even more on serving coaches directly.

Beth sees the Syracuse University basketball and football programs as an influential force in the community. “If we can effectively share Jesus with the coaches and athletes then they will share it with their friends and families. What a ripple effect it can have!” She says. “Just to be a part of building the Kingdom through FCA is an honor.”

Beth has been married for 26 years, now living in Cicero, NY, with their three daughters. They love the outdoors, hiking the Adirondacks and of course, cheering on SU!
