MIKE VINING
State Director, New Hampshire
Mike Vining has served as the New Hampshire State Director at FCA for the past eight years and seen the ministry grow throughout New Hampshire with thousands of students and coaches getting the word of Jesus Christ through FCA huddle meetings. He is eager to bring his experience to his new role of regional director of board and donor development where he will be working with FCA staff throughout the region. “Everything that FCA does is what I have been trying to do for much of my life: coaching, teaching, trying to spread the Gospel of Christ in everything that I do – now I get to do this for my full-time job,” Vining said.
A native of Bangor Maine, Vining received his B.S. in Marketing from Husson University in Bangor. He has over 25 years of experience as a sales management executive in the consumer-packaged goods industry, including 12 years as a National Sales Manager with Unilever, and over three years with the Dole Food Company, living in California, where he served as Director of Sales. In 2000 he was named National Sales Director at Electronic Scrip, Inc., during its start-up phase, where he remained until 2015 and then joined the Fellowship of Christian Athletes staff. “I am grateful for the chance to make a difference in young people's lives through this ministry one coach at a time, one player at a time, one team at a time."
“I joined FCA to further the ministry of God’s Word in the lives of coaches and their athletes. FCA provides me with the opportunity to truly help give coaches the tools they need to be the best they can be, and help their players build character and become stronger players and better teammates through learning God’s Word,” Vining said.
Vining has coached softball for 20 years, he coached at Portsmouth Christian Academy, Great Bay Community College and St. Thomas Aquinas High School. Additionally, he has coached the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) summer travel teams and won the New Hampshire State Championship and coached in multiple Softball World Series.
Vining resides in Dover, NH with his wife Gerri: “She is my number one supporter, and partner in my Christian walk.”
The couple has two daughters — both softball players whom Vining has had the pleasure of coaching and who have each been awarded state titles during their softball careers and both earned New Hampshire High School Pitcher of the year awards. Alicia currently is director of marketing for the New York Islanders and Ashley teaches middle school at Weddington Christian Academy in Charlotte, NC.
